The Level 2 (Intermediate) Workshop increases the learner’s skills and builds confidence in their use of hypnosis and prepares them to move on to the advanced workshop level and individual consultation with a strong basis of skills and understanding of the principles and practice of clinical hypnosis.

Dr. Linda Thomson, Ph.D.

Dr. Linda Thomson is an Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis and is the first nurse to ever have been awarded Diplomate status on the American Board of Medical Hypnosis. She is also a Diplomate and Past President of the American Board of Hypnosis in Nursing. Dr. Thomson is a Fellow and Past-President of American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and is the current Moderator of the Board of Governors. She has also served as Past President of New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis and is the current president of Northeastern Mountain Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
Thomson was the recent recipient of the Josephine Hilgard Award for the best paper on pediatric uses of hypnosis that appeared in the April 2019 edition of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. In 2018 she received the William Wester Award for her significant contributions to the field of hypnosis as applied to the treatment of children and research in the application of hypnosis with children. She was honored with the ASCH President’s Award for leadership, creativity, and compassion while promoting clinical hypnosis and the is the two-time recipient of the Award of Merit from ASCH.
Passionate about educating health care professionals about the benefits of clinical hypnosis, she has lectured and taught workshops across the country and around the world. She is the author of dozens of journal articles, book chapters and 2 Harry Hypno-potamus books of metaphorical tales for children and created “Stress Free Surgery, a self-relaxation program to help patients prepare for and recover from surgery.
Mary Wells, Ph.D.

Dr. Mary Wells is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been in practice for over 30 years in the areas of rehabilitation and pain management. She completed her graduate work at George Washington University and started her career at the Washington Pain and Rehabilitation Center in Washington DC. She went from there to VCU Health System in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as a rehab psychologist, providing services to a full range of rehabilitation patients on both inpatient and outpatient services. She left VCU to work in an interdisciplinary pain clinic in the community and later went into private practice.
In 2000, she joined the medical psychology department at Sheltering Arms Hospital, first as a staff psychologist and later as director of the department, a post she held for 10 years. She has recently returned to the VCU Dept. of PMR and is currently working as part of an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System to provide services to patients with chronic pain due to a variety of medical conditions. She provides evaluations and psychological treatment for the management of chronic pain.
Monica Wong, MSW, RSW

Monica was raised on the island of Oahu. Although no longer living in Hawaii, Monica brings with her the Aloha spirit and dedication to helping others. She has her Masters in Clinical Social Work and offers counselling, hypnotherapy and hypnosis for fertility, birth (HypnoBirthing®) and post-partum, (HypnoMothering) at her Calgary private practice, Ohana Counseling & HypnoBirthing.
Monica utilizes various therapy modalities in counseling and has chosen to specialize in clinical hypnosis. She first became interested in utilizing hypnosis for childbirth when taking an undergraduate psychology course with Dr. Alladin. She became a HypnoBirthing® instructor in 2012, utilizing hypnosis for her own births, as well for life's challenges.
Monica is passionate about hypnosis and enjoys teaching others and continually enrolling in clinical hypnosis training herself; she is currently a member of the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Federation of Clinical Hypnosis.
